Someone earlier had requested the Dept. of Mutant
Transport get their (my) ass in gear and put out some
guidelines. Also, I've been seeing/getting some
emails form people saying they're going to bring an
art car to Transformus.
Due to the compressed time schedule and my desire to
not over-regulate this process, I'd like to make this
very simple. Mutant Vehicles (MVs) are welcome and
encouraged. There will NOT be a registration process,
you do NOT need to pre-register your MV, but there
WILL be some simple rules for MVs. Follow these
rules, and your MV will be allowed to enter. Don't
follow them, and you're boned. Your MV will either
not be allowed to enter, or it may not be allowed to
move about once inside (thus rendering it a Mutant
Stationary Device), or it may be crushed, at my
discretion. ;)
The Four by Four Rule: The MV must be no wider than 4
feet, and must have at least 4 inches of ground
clearance under it. Why? The roads at Deerfields are
narrow and all-terrain. MVs must be narrow enough
that two may pass on any of the roads. And we don't
want to be pushing out stuck ones constantly.
The "Look Ma No Brakes!" Rule: Your MV must have
brakes. They must work.
The "WHAT?" Rule: The MV should not make excessive
noise. Unless its supposed to. What this boils down
to is: Muffle engines.
The Drunken Hippy Stumbles Rule: If its going to be
trawling about at night, the MV must be lit, fore and
aft and to both sides. So must all trailers it tows.
The "Duh" rule: If there is anything blatantly
dangerous about the MV (twirling blades of Death,
Nitrile gloves filled with Kerosene dangling from the
sides, Live exposed 120VAC wires, that sort of stuff)
You will be instructed to remove/fix it, or the MV
will fail inspection.
If anyone disagrees with any of these rules, tough.
You can be DMT teamlead next year. ;)
Now, can anyone help me make this information public
knowledge for the 1000 or so souls who will be coming
to TFormus and who are NOT on this or the DMT mailing
lists?
