Fire dancer roll call!! :) 2008

It just keeps getting better and better doesnt it? :)

First, I want to thank everybody for coming together and putting on one of the most amazing and beautiful events of the year!

To the fire dancers:

Fire dancing can be one of the most beautiful, challenging, freeing, painful, joyous and ecstatic experiences there can be! I think that when a person dances with fire, they can be in one of their most elemental, basic states - one of the truest expressions of themselves. I wanted to thank all of you, the fire dancers, for your spirit you shared and the light you burned! Dancing at the different theme camps with you all was wonderful, and dancing with you around the effigy was...well...I can't find words that could really describe how amazing and inspiring that experience was!

It was an honor and joy to be able to dance with and learn from so many of you, the beautiful and talented fire dancers of Transformus. Thank you. :) So many connections made, but in the city of Mysteria, with no business cards or cell phones (thankfully) it can be hard to keep track of everybody, and find them on Tribe - if they're here!

So here it is: ----===The 2008 Transformus fire dancer (and breather!! ) roll call! ===----

If you were there and danced, give a shout! It would be great to reconnect and help keep the energy of Mysteria alive and burning brightly! :)

thank you again ~ peace and much love to you all

Taz

oh...and a BIG Thank you to the many safety's who helped us keep our hair :)

Update on the man who was burned in the Temple fire?

I've seen on Transformus list that someone was seriously burned in Sunday night's Temple fire. They are reported there to be in critical condition, but stable.

If anyone knows anything more about how this man is doing, please let us know...I'm sick to hear it, and hope he will recover well.

XXXOOO,

pyramid

First let me say- the pyramid was amazing!! Beautiful work. But I am trying to get an answer and have yet to find the artist. Can anyone help? Question- why did it honor earth, fire and water only? I was told air was somewhere on the bottom unseen. Yes, it is an art festival, but the magick and intention behind things, especially in such a powerful place, can seriously affect everyone's experience. Anyone feel a lack of communication or clarity? Did you experience some imbalance? Lots of things play into it, but leaving out air was, in this witch and sanctuarian's opinion, a major magical faux pas!! I spent a lot of time trying to invoke balance, as I'm sure many of us did. (Thanks to balloon tunnels, bubbles and hula hoops!!!)

Not bitching- again, I LOVED the pyramid- just questioning... :)

Lost and Found-Cursed Staffs and soiled bullhorns

First let me say thank you all for throwing such a big party for me. Really, you shouldn't have. By the end of it I actually did feel as though everyone had gone to all this trouble just for me. You all made me feel so special and sexy and beautiful and enlightened and well, a little drunk on love, cheap whiskey, kisses, spankings, giant balloon thingees and 18 horse power vibrators.

Secondly, I tried to post this on the tranformous site but couldn't make it work. I left a staff by the white tent next to stage and went back today to discover it gone gone. I realize I could just make another but I had this one perfected and had grown attached to its feel. Also you should know, just in case some unknown picked it up and took it home, that it was cursed by a guy that looks like Vincent Price and lives in a cave in Hawaii surrounded by Tiki idols. The curse will cause tarantullas to crawl on you while you sleep, surfing accidents, and other weird shit to happen, until you cast it into the pit of doom where it was forged with pure evil or return it to me, no questions asked.

Also, a campmate of mine who hates oldsmobiles found a borrowed bullhorn rammed up thier ass and is not sure how to get it back to its proper owner.

All -
I was handed a cell phone that was found at transformUs Monday morning. I realized I still had it when I was half-way home (had intended to turn it in).

Here are some details:

Found in Elysian Fields between Ripe and Juicy Camp and Bubble Camp.

Area code for phone is (843) (should be in South Carolina and covering the Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Florence areas)

If you know who this phone belongs to. . . give me a shout out here -- describe the phone, and give me your full number and I'll drop it in the mail for him/her.

Thunder (from Bubble Camp)
aka Mark Zumbach (919) 334-8265

****************Please direct questions and comments to ME (via PM or email); I will be compiling a follow-up to this posting, hopefully getting said questions answered. Already asked: why was this meeting not more publicized? Why were there children around?***********

Transformus ’08 Town Hall meeting
7/20, Center Stage
* note taking begun halfway through the meeting, following is a summation of pertinent points *

Topics not covered in this summation: many, many thanks and expressions of gratitude

Main topics: “What happened? How to prevent this shitstorm in the future?”

What happened?

What got Transformus kicked out of Burning Man?

Wordplay: “Lack of communication.”

Bex: “…lots of contacts not knowing what was going on…too many people not feeling right about everything…”

Was it multiple sources?

Bex: “Yes. Coming from all over. Burning Man got several formal complaints, too.”

How does Transformus get back into “The Org” (Burning Man, as dubbed by S.C. Libertine – resistance is futile)?

Bex: “BM still supports Transformus, me and Wally are here…work with regional contacts…if the community wants back in, talk to
regionals…get advice…we are going back with a glowing report.”

So what now?

~Miss Kitten suggested regions have regionals to keep communication open between the BOD and burners-at-large.

IE, Charlotte, Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, Richmond, etc. would each have a POC (point of contact) responsible for providing information
to their areas

~A pigtailed man from Texas: “Flipside feels your pain…and would be happy to talk about it.”

Flipside has their core LLC people, a la Tmus BOD, and then the “Combustion Chamber,” who are nominated and elected by the
community

~Chicago also has a “steering committee” of all the sub-groups, that meets monthly.

However, “committees create convolution,” “it’s not always a democracy that gets the job done” and Transformus, unlike focused areas
like Chicago, is spread out all over the country.

Odd Wally: “There are plenty of ways to deal with all the spreadoutness.” (referring to technology)

~Danielle: “…it was bound to happen from day one. Things never got discussed. We need immediacy. Direct lines of communication. A
mission statement, vision statement (5 year plan, 10 year plan) – we need to go back to basics. How to participate in a meeting, how to be
a team lead…”

Debra: “We got all that from the Summit.”

Danielle: “Just a few of us, not the community. We need to examine other systems.”

~S.C. Libertine: “People who cannot commit and handle responsibility shouldn’t be given it. If you don’t want to sift through 100 emails a
day, don’t sign up for that job. If you can’t be on-line 24/7, to handle questions and complaints, you don’t need to be in a position of authority and power that relies heavily on you being as open and transparent as possible.”

Unanswered questions:

~Who’d like to head up a committee to gather info from other burns to help give Transformus directions?

~Who is the core group for Transformus?

~Who amongst those in leadership positions, or willing to assume leadership positions, are best for which job? (ie, don’t give someone without a computer the job of relaying info to the community, let someone experienced with handling money handle the financial records, etc.)

~What can be done to enable everyone who is interested to participate in meetings/discussions? Who will be in charge of organizing that?

~Do we stay in Deerfields?

~Do we keep comping tickets for people under 6 years old?

~Why were there only three of the four elements on the effigy?

~Should volunteers be rewarded/”thanked?” If so, how?

Misc.:

How will ticket scamming be prevented in the future?

Vespa said ask again in 60-90 days, they are looking into that.

Agreed upon:

offsite parking rules!
Jace rules!

In 30 days: Debra will have organized a gathering in Atlanta (for further discussion).

Wordplay: “I have never put a dime from this event in my pocket, ever.”

Questions? Comments? Think I left out something that should have been included?

Email sclibertine@hotmail.com, and I will ensure they are answered and/or shared with the community (to the best of her abilities).

We just returned to our community from our adventure in Mysteria. Our experience was healing and cathartic, inspirational and encouraging.

This weekend's journey was filled with everything we expected and much more. This year's mythic event was filled with passion and creativity, positive energy and delicious chaos. An delightful array of divine beauty and devilish temptations scattered across the energized sacred land that is Deerfields.

There were many new artists and installations seen on the mountain for the first time over the weekend. Our City of Mysteria had a great group of volunteers keeping everything running as smoothly as possible. I saw a few really spectacular mutant vehicles, had a great time visiting and exploring many of the theme camps (but unfortunately not all), and really enjoyed seeing so many participating virgin burners. As I understand it, all potential spectators were flogged upon arrival and converted into authentic burners on Saturday night. Sundays leftovers were pureed in a blender and served as smoothies.

What were some of your favorite highlights to your burn weekend? Was there a favorite theme camp for you or a particularly good art project, performance piece, or creative gift that you want to share with us?

I enjoyed meeting many of you for the first time this weekend and look forward to our next adventures together.

Blessings of Peace, Kindness and Compassion within our hearts, our minds, our homes, our community and our world.

LOST: blue backpack

Hello all. I lost a blue Jansport backpack on Friday afternoon at Deerfields. I think that someone took it by accident when the trailers dropped off our stuff at the white tent. It contains:

Cookies
Clothing (black skirt, black shirt, plaid skirt, green dress, black knee socks)
Goggles
Frangelico
Makeup bag
Digital camera
Yellow bonnet
Black and red wristbands
Lemon juice
Bra

I would love to have this stuff back. Can anyone help me? I seriously doubt anyone took it on purpose, but I'm a bit surprised that nobody has brought it back yet...

It didn't ruin my burn, though. Thanks to all for a great time.

I am not sure who to contact but I accidentally left my back pack at the front gate and left thinking I packed everything in my car. It was in a heap with other people's stuff - I left around 12:00 - 12:30. I think it says Sierra Club on it and there is a camera, clothes and a Good and Plenty eye glasses case in it. If you have any info on it if you were at the front gate please let me know asap.

Thanks!

PS - Transformus was awesome....:) Thank you everyone!

Children at Transformus

This is an example of some of the email we have received concerning infant children.

We have told all who we are aware of that have children under 21. That this is a 21+ event.

Vespa

==================================
We are in a terrible position this year due to JohnJ's making the statement on local media (TV) which was to the effect of this years' event being 21 +. There was aIso local newspaper coverage. All of these provided internet links to allow even further coverage. It affected many of this years' and past years' participants, almost at the last moment. We have relayed to our insurance provider it is a 21+ event. In addition, we are aware there may some legal enforcement follow up and or child protection services involved to"check us out". Again, this is something we are most aware of this year due to the inaccurate media coverage instigated by one of the neighbors in the Horse Shoe community.

As you being invite holding Transformus participants, we (the organizers) would be at risk and liable for any children at event. This pains most involved with the event, but even more so, the event organizers.

Wish it didn't have to be this way, but again, JohnJ made the statement, it is public knowledge and we are bound to it.

Debra
Deerfields to Transformus LLC
June 20, 2008
Deerfields is requiring Transformus LLC to admit no one under age 21 to Transformus 2008: The Southeast Regional Burn. Please advise this on your web page. Regards, John J. Redden

JohnJ to vespa forwarded to BOD
I had said, but you may not have gotten it, that all tickets should be honored, but 21 and up should be posted on the website. We don't have a problem with infants. We do have a problem with ages 4-18. Maybe we should have been consulted about the infants before now.

So I found out about 10 minutes ago that I can in fact go to Transformus!!!! Hell yea...one problem, I'm without a ticket.

I live close to Deerfields / Asheville and would be willing to meet somebody to buy the tickets with cash - preferably you won't hike up the ticket price :). I don't have paypal - and am freaked out by all the scamming. So cash only, in person, in asheville or at the gate.

Crossing my fingers!

my cell is 828-989-0911

hope there are still some of you who haven't left quite yet :)

Last PR Message from the Costume Camp

Hey Hey-

COSTUME CAMP - Located in Elysian Fields:

Stop by, explore our racks, and find the pieces that fate has provided for you. You can also drop off costumey clothes and accessories that you want to donate and watch for them to reappear on someone later. Come back a few times to see what's arrived since your last visit and play dress-up with camp members and other Mysterians. We're basically a self service joint, but we're also offering some specific times when we'll be sure to be around. From 3-5 on Friday and Saturday, we'll offer minor sewing repairs (buttons, seams...) and sessions on wing making (fly away with yours at the end of the session). Of course, we're always happy to offer shamefully amateurish fashion advice.

Hours: Friday 9 AM -1 AM. Wing making & costume repair 3-5 PM.
Saturday 9 AM -1 AM. Wing making & costume repair 3-5 PM.
Sunday 9 AM -Noon.

Come see us. We're festive. I'll probably also have cake. Mmmmmmmm.

Camp CONTACT! is a haven for movement based arts. We will be offering classes in Contact Improvisation Dance, and we open our 30' dome to more dance and other activities such as yoga, massage, modern dance, butoh, or whatever some mysterian might want to offer.

Open Yoga (8:30am - 10:00 am) Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Come and use our space for morning yoga. For now we
don’t have a leader identified, but come join us for yoga and perhaps
someone will offer to teach. UPDATE:

Amira will teach Integral Yoga on Saturday Morning at 8:30

Contact Improvisation Dance Classes:

5:00pm - 6:30pm Friday
10:00am - 11:30am Saturday
5:00pm - 6:30pm Saturday
10:00am - 11:30am Sunday

Contact Improv Dance is a dance form that is like modern
dance with improvised choreography. Come learn the basics of
spiraling, taking weight, and dancing this post-modern dance, open
to beginners and experienced as well.

11:30 on Saturday-SpinMeister - Ballet is the New Yoga:

Tree pose is just inches from Passï. Warrior three is nearly an
Arabesque, and Dancing Warrior, well that's just choreography. Ballet
beginners, ballet curious, ballet refugees are all welcome at this low key
classical ballet class based on an approach that combines breathing to
replace terror, centering yourself rather than being self centered, and is
designed to replace any childhood ballet traumas either from Madame
[Insert European name here] or the I Love Lucy episode with ways you can
take a ballet class on your own terms. Bring sox.

Hey all. This will be my first time at Transformus. I'm wondering if some of you can give me a good list of some of the reoccurring camps that you'd recommend I'd visit, when, and where. I'm going to be camping with PLF (Party Liberation Front) and was wondering about some of the other camps. None too calm or to crazy. I can't seem to really find a good list of camps and themes anywhere.
So... on Sunday, feel free to donate unused, unopened canned food (no glass bottles/jars). I'll try to get boxes out, and come around to as many camps as I can. Anyone who wants to help is welcome. I'll be near the DSB in Narnia. PM me for my specific camp....

Volunteer? I would advise against it!

With TF 08 coming soon, there will be suggestions, requests, pleadings and even begging for volunteers to help provide assistance as team leaders and team members, to be a part of the "essential personnel". If you are considering volunteering, I would advise against it. You will be making a mistake if you do volunteer.

My first burn was last year at TF 07. Since I was a "virgin" to burns, I decided to volunteer in an area in which I had some experience. It would give me something to use as a crutch, something to hold on to, during the new experience.

I volunteered for the Ranger Team. I attended the "required" Ranger training. FYI, I have 8 years experience as a seasonal Park Ranger working for the National Park Service and the NC State Parks. I also worked 2 years as a full-time EMT on a county ambulance, and had 2 years experience as a volunteer EMT/Firefighter with a county volunteer fire department. So I was asked to also volunteer for the EMS Team. I came prepared with two trauma bags, an extensive burn kit, a box of extra supplies and a tank of oxygen. I had everything needed for basic life support.

What I didn't come prepared for was the lie. Radical Inclusion is the lie.

On Friday night I was lied to, manipulated, insulted, discriminated against, and treated rudely and with disrespect. I was treated like a piece of shit.

The thing that sickens me is that I was treated like a piece of shit by a Transformus Team Leader and she was someone who has been a volunteer coordinator in another organization. The thing that breaks my heart is she is one of the most beautiful of God's creations I have ever seen. When I first met her, I was stunned by her beauty, her energy, her joy. She looks like an angel. When she smiles, stars come out of her eyes. But inside she is evil.

The number of people who treated me with basic respect, love and kindness can be counted on one hand.

Any time you hear someone say they are for "diversity", that means they are for diversity as long as they get to chose which diversity is acceptable. Any time you hear someone say they are for "Radical Inclusion", that means they are for "Radical Inclusion" as long as they get to choose who is included.

If you are not one of the hard core burners, if you are not part of the clique, if you are not one of the young and beautiful, you WILL be excluded.

"Radical Inclusion" is a lie.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Friday night at midnight

The Hookah Lounge will be showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight Friday night. This is a movie we love and think is one great example of how PARTICIPATION can make something phenomenally better than spectation. We invite everyone to come to the Hukka Lounge in Valhallah Friday night 11:50ish, wearing your RHPS costumes or other mysteria gear. Bring blanket's, pillows, chairs for your comfort. People with chairs are asked to seat behind those on the ground.

We do not have a cast to do a stage show, but we will be showing the movie and of course everyone should participate with their call-outs. There is a suggested script at http://thehookahlounge.110mb.com/RHPSScript.html

For the sake of moop reduction we are asking that you do not throw rice, cards, hot dogs, or other items. Squirt guns, lighters, noise makers, and bubbles (for the wedding in lieu of rice) are suggested props. If you have a newspaper, you can dispose of it in our burn barrel after the show.

If you have anyone camping with you who has not seen the movie before (a Rocky Horror Picture Show virgin), bring them along! There will be a door prize given away at the beginning of the movie for a lucky and talented virgin.

Love and hugs,
F'jord

Late Evening Arrival?

Hi all: This is my first time attending Transformus.

I'm going to be arriving around midnight on Friday going into Saturday. I recently read somewhere that the gate will be closed at 9pm that night. Can someone please clarify the gate policy for people who will be arriving "after-hours"?

I understand that I will need to park in a satellite lot. I will not have any gear with me requiring transport and will carry anything I need on my back. I'd just like some reassurance that I'll be able to enter the event after-hours...

Thanks,
Spatch

Burning Man Ticket $240 Delivered

Hi All,

A close friend of ours got his ticket and now can't go to Burning Man.

Since he is not on tribe, (he is a 73 year old retired medical Dr who actually did go 2 years ago) I offered to list it here to see if he can sell it (at a loss) to some deserving Burner.

If interested, shoot an e-mail to me and I will put you in touch with him so you can pay him and he can mail it to you.

Much thanks

I am looking to see if anyone might have room to rideshare with me from airport, Reno to BM on Tues or Weds Aug 26-27 and then return back to Reno Mon or Tues Sep 1-2.

I put this in the rideshare tribe but also here because perhaps we can meet up at Transformus to say hello! It will just be me, shipping most stuff out on a friends truck.

If not, just say hello to me anyway in the Fields, I look forward to a funtastic weekend with you all! :)

A shampooing station will be available, with water donation. No cameras, please.

Fire conclave info from Kphonic

**PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL RELEVANT LISTS**

Hey there fire people! First off I want to thank each of you for contacting me in the past couple of weeks to describe your needs and expectations for the 2008 Fire Conclave. Sounds like we're all on the same page and ready to rock! Here's a few items of interest I need you to consume. I've tried to keep touch with those of you who have special needs but please accept my apologies if you've slipped through the cracks. With all the different forms of communication it's tough to keep it all straight!

DRUMMERS-

I don't have much for you aside from asking that you make your way to Zama around 9pm as we all prepare to march to the burn field and around the circle. From what I understand there will be more coordination from fellow drummers at the event. It wouldnt hurt to read through the rest of this info to get an idea on what to expect inside the circle.

WHAT YOU CAN DO-

I'll get into the fuel depot details below. I wanted to put this item at the top of this note so everyone sees it before getting bored with the details :-) We're going to attempt to limit the amount of fuel and fuel cans required for the Conclave this year. My plan is to collect fuel cans and fuel during the day on Saturday to be placed in the fuel depots.

PLEASE BRING YOUR FUEL to Zama / Tiki Torchure when you arrive or early during the day Saturday. If you want to just bring your fuel can over then that'll be fine, but make sure you indicate what type of fuel is in the can. We will likely consolidate as much as possible so your can may be left in Zama.

ZAMA AND FIREKITTYS (Sally) ART PROJECT (2008 Grant) NEEDS YOUR TIKI FUEL! You can drop off anytime. Our march to the circle will be lit by dozens of beautiful torches and I can promise your fuel will be put to good use every night of the event!

Any fuel cans can be retrieved from the depots or Zama after the burn through Sunday morning. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not saddle our camp with any trash or fuel cans- The Karma will be awful on your house, I promise. If you leave a can- take a can at some point.

If we have tons of fuel leftover after Conclave I'll be transporting the depots to whatever location looks to have a high concentration of performers so we can burn it off through the night. If the depots are dry they will be returned to Zama for your pickup.

BANS-

The Effigy team has informed me the structure will be doused with a flammable liquid in the upper reaches, and we just can't take a chance at setting off their work early during our performance. They have a plan for lighting it up and it doesn't include you setting it off during the Conclave, intentionally or otherwise :-)

!!!!!! FIREWORKS ARE BANNED FROM CONCLAVE.
!!!!!! STEEL WOOL IS BANNED FROM CONCLAVE.

SAFETY-

The plan is to stage 10 fire safeties. Once I get the lay of the effigy I'll determine the distribution of these brave souls around the Circle. We will have people on the outside perimeter and the inside. The intent here is to provide localized protection for both the crowd and the drummers inside the circle. I hope to avoid saddling anyone with a full time "Fuel Bitch" role this year by locating the fuel depots within the circle. This is another item that will be determined once we're on the ground.

Safety shifts are covered at this time. All I ask from you is that you're SOBER and not wearing anything ridiculously flammable (leave your fur with a friend in the crowd to be retrieved post burn!) There are two levels of safety team volunteers- those that are out and about ready to help the crowd or performers in trouble within the circle are level 2. Level 1 safeties are experienced fire people prepared to extinguish toys in the general vicinity of the fuel depots.

Fire blankets will be provided to safeties. I ask that you make absolutely sure these get back to the fuel depots so I can get them back to the owners after the burn!

If you plan to interact with the crowd directly, please bring this up during the safety meeting. Depending on your tools you may like to be escorted by a safety around the circle. This goes double for people breathing fire or anyone who is likely to have aerated fuel flying off them or their tools.

Safeties may be asked to remain on duty as the effigy is lit and begins to become involved. This is subject to Ranger approval, but it just makes sense to have some sober people carrying fire blankets around the perimeter prepared to assist if anyones costume gets hit with an burning ember.

FIRE BREATHERS-

Please coordinate with a safety escort before blowing your load near the crowd or other performers. :-) Just make sure the safety nearest your location is aware of what you're doing and be prepared to STOP! if there is any obstruction. And please don't blow over the crowd, most people hate getting spit on especially when it's flammable drool.

FUEL-

Fuel depots will be setup and prepped after the safety meeting. The depots are large golden boxes. Fuels will be marked with glowsticks as always, colors are listed below. IF YOU REQUIRE AN OVERSIZED FUEL CAN PLEASE BRING THIS UP DURING THE SAFETY MEETING!

- GREEN: White gas
- RED: Kero
- BLUE: Lamp oil

Kero and Lamp oil will be in one depot. The other depot is dedicated to white gas.

PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP TO CONCLAVE WITH A FUEL CAN, you WILL be asked to leave it in Zama.

PRE BURN-

Performers and safeties are asked to join us at Zama prior to the burn, starting around 7:00pm through 8:00pm or so. Please bring your fire tools so we can help one another do a basic inspection. Any questionable equipment will either be repaired or retired for the Conclave. Examples of questionable conditions would be: failing chain links, fingers loops or wicks that are coming apart. We won't keep you any longer than required- just to say hello and give everyone a chance to see what we're dealing with.

BURN-

Roundup for our march into the burn field with the drummers collective will be at Zama again: 9PM! This is the camp location behind the main stage, lakefront. I hope everyone plans to be rowdy and revved up- it's our job to get the crowd going! We will enter from the rear and proceed around the circle to the back. At that point it's time to fuel up and get going.

Tools that require large space (fire whips, rope darts, massive staves, etc..) will be pushed to the front of the line. We want to give these people a chance to do their thing without worrying they'll smack another performer in the face. I'm sure we can push them all around again after they're refueled, safeties will spread the performers out a little bit in this case.

THANK YOU-

I appreciate you making it this far through the dribble. If you need anything, reach me on my phone at 980-254-1453. I'll be onsite Wed afternoon, located in Tiki Torchure / Zama behind the main stage. Just look for the bigass tiki head. My tent is a blue/gray northface with a shade wing over it. Ask for Jason or kp if you need me!

Can't wait to see you all again. Thank you for the opportunity to bring everyone together for what will be a fantastic show. After all the drama- We all need to focus on what's great about TranformUS to ourselves. I spun fire for the first time at the event 4 years ago (THANK YOU BEN AND CHRIS!) and it's been a life changing experience to learn from and watch each of you through the years as we've grown this awesome burning community.

Poetry at Bubble Camp

I invite you all to come to Bubble Camp and share your favorite poetry and/or spoken word. It is welcome at any time throughout the weekend and I expect we'll have a poetry salon at some point too. The whole time thing is sketchy but I'm thinking Sunday afternoon. But there is always poetry going on in our camp. So bring your favorite, whether you wrote it or you just love it or come enjoy someone else's. The poetry of our Bubble Campers tends to err on the side of optimistic and whimsical (and that's what we'd like to inspire in others as well). It's fun. You'll like it. Here's an example of a poem of mine that has its roots in Transformus.

Happy Dance

It starts with a giggle
a snicker
a smile
escalates to a chuckle
a grin
more giggles
a snort
a guffaw
a gasp
and then the trill
begins to thrill.
In dances gyrating, gesticulating, galloping, goofy Laughter --
cavorting, convulsing, collapsing
into great galloping giggles,
cracking up in cascades
of cacophonous cackling.
Tee hee, and hee hee and trying not to pee pee
hardy harr and ho ho ho bursts of hilarity.
Spasms of snorting
chasms of chortling
bibble-babble bubblings of basic buffoonery.

Pththththtthththhtthtt!

Rip roaring, rib-tickling,
rolling on the floor raucousness
raises hell
atop
gibbering gobs of glorious glee,
wave upon wave of joyous jovial jocularity
of shaking, choking, gasping, yuck yuck
of endorphin-engaging arr arr
of salty tears summoning, serotonin seizing, norepinephrine squeezing, sympathetic nervous system teasing,
back bending and belly buckling
stitches.

I am
dopey with dopamine.

Seized by whiplash-causing,
knee slapping,
foot stomping,
thigh pounding,
side splitting,
diaphragm wrenching,
panty wetting,
boxer soiling,
the tiniest burst of flatulence inducing,
bobble-headed bounces of
mirth and merriment, I
look around and
all around me are
shining examples of squealing hilarity,
hysterical and blubbering outbursts of oral incontinence
frightening displays of vascular compromise
heads laughing off
asses laughing off
guts busting...

Silly people are laughing themselves sillier.

Pray
nobody dies laughing.
Pray
I don’t die laughing!

This sobers me a bit
just a bit, brings
hiccup-inducing hyperventilation and
cheeks-aching pants of pleasure and
pleasure pants slowly dwindle to
tear wiping titters to
grin grimace giggles to
one last snort
giggle
sigh
giggle
a belly-clasping, head-shaking, tears wiping, eyes rolling
whimsical wind down
from the wonderful wacky world
of whoopin’ it up.

Is there any sort of drive set upon upon exodus to collect unused cans of food, etc.? I know that I probably will have some left over, and figure others will as well. There is a food bank in Asheville that I am sure would be thrilled to take donations. (I work at the Greater Boston Food Bank, and know that the demand for donations is out of control right now). I'll be in Asheville on Monday, and can arrange to drop it off.

I would be happy to go from camp to camp on Sunday and pick things up. Transporting them to the car might be tricky, but even if I just get a few bags, I'll feel happy about it.

If anyone would like to help, I would be happy. And if anyone is already doing this, I would love to help, don't want to step on anyone's toes. PM me or email me or call me. My email is amymisha@comcast.net. PM me for my phone.

Hi there...
I am sad that I won't be able to bring my hoop with me this year... I need one of those nice collapsible ones. Will anyone have extras, or could I play with yours sometime? I will miss it while I am there.
Thanks!

I would just like to say that anyone who is selling tickets for more than they bought them for SUCK!!!! How dare you. Expecially those who are supposed to be experienced burners!! I mean I can understand wanting to recoup some losses like the charges on paypal or such. But to tell people that you have tickets availible to buy and then try to charge 400% more than what you bought the tickets for is robbery! Then you try to sell those tickets to so called friends. I am looking for one more ticket for our group Dad to go, but I refuse to support such bullsh*t. If any BURNERS out there know where an extra ticket is please let me know, also anyone else who is being screwed in such a manner please post here and put these people in there places.

So I'll be planting my lil Vision Tree again which has been growing bigger each year....it's a gifting art piece :)
A tree ripe with sunglasses fruit - A tree that doesn't have shade, it has shadeS!.....so those in need of eyewear may "pick a pair"..lol

If anyone has any extra eyewear to add to it then please do!
It tickles me to death to notice new pieces added to the branches!

Broken, mangled eyewear is not excluded either! I love giving the broken pieces a place on the tree which gives it more life and makes the "picking a pair" more interesting to have to find a good pair, heh.
tiara snatch 'n dash

To add a little whimsy (or terror) I have decided to throw down the satin-opera-length-glove and challenge YOU ALL (MALES AND FEMALES) to a TIARA GRABBIN' MATCH.

On Friday afternoon (somewhere around sunset) there will be a TIARA SNATCH 'N DASH. Bring your favorite bridesmaid/prom dress and meet at the STAGE near the EFFIGY. This is supposed to get crazy so make sure that you WANT your dress to be ripped, tugged and other wise tussled. If you want to stay pretty- stay in your tent.

This is all in good fun - so no PUNCHING - SCRATCHING - or GOUGING OF EYES. I know how much you love the bling - but "not the face, not the face!" This will be somewhat freeze tag/ somewhat rugby.

(flashback)
For those of you in BUBBLE CAMP last year may remember what inspired this idea. Some royalty was promenading through our camp when a tiara got "loose". Let's just say, it didn't stay loose for long.

Hope to see you there
WACK Radio: TESTIMONY and CONFESSION 2008!!!

HEAR YE, Hear ye!!!

WACK Radio, (will rock Xanadu again), and presents:

TESTIMONY and CONFESSION!!!

...but first a public service announcement:
(((As legalities, heat, and press have found their way to Transformus '08, we have campingly come to the consensus that pirate radio is ill suited for this year's event. No one wants to be the camp that ruined the burn. (That's right Nevada, IT'S STILL A FUCKING BURN!))))

and now...

we are honored to present:

TESTIMONY and CONFESSION 2008!!!

Each day,
as WACK rocks the block...

...this state-of-the-art, self-explanatory, sinfully private, seductively forgiving, sultry and redemptive penance recording booth will be in operation throughout Transformus 2008! With the pressing of a button, and with a somewhat attentive dj, we will be recording your jubilant testimony and most sinful confessions. These private, anonymous, luscious, revealing, tantalizing, orgasmic, and repentant recordings will be publicly aired on Sunday, from 10am till we all fall down. Remember, this is a participation dependent event, it's all about you, and him, and her; and your wildest whims, soaked submissions, most erotic epiphanies, deepest secrets, hardest considerations, darkest disturbances, and most celebratory, liberating, testimonies and confessions!!!

We look forward to hearing from all of you, and we believe you will all enjoy hearing each other as well.

Disclaimer:
(The glory hole is a work in progress. Don't ask, don't tell.)
(We accept no responsibilities for the actions of delivered souls and people acting on aural ecstasy.)

until then,

prepare to TESTIFY AND CONFESS!!!

may the mystery be with you,

much love,

WACK Radio...

Fabric donations to the effigy

Hey there mysterians

The countdown is on. (insert happy dance here)

Down here in FLA we have completed our offsite build of the effigy and are prepping for transport. We are so excited about this project and can't wait to share it with you all.

As the event draws closer , we are asking if anyone would like to donate any fabrics to the effigy project. If you are interested, please deliver your fabric donations to the effigy by Thursday afternoon on site..

You can decorate a piece of fabric (an unfitted bed sheet works great for this) to have it hang within the structure, or if you just have scraps or some long pieces you can stand to part with we would greatly appreciate the donation.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the mountain.

Much love
~Tama
(OK- I admit that bait & switch subject line was a cheap ploy.)

Maybe you have something that that someone else will love even more than you do.....a scarf or a necklace or a hat or a wig or a shirt or a dress or a shirt or some boots or a cape or......

Whether or not you have anything to drop off, come transform your look at the costume camp in Elysian Fields. Let's play dress-up!

OT: Burning Man - Ride share and more....

First off, I would just like to apologize if I made any of the people hosting Tranformus this year feel as if I was angry with them in any of my communications. I assure you, I am not. Transformus last year was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and I can never thank you enough for that. Any anger you may have gotten from me was not anger at you as individuals, just anger that I put so much in to my theme camp for this year only to lose he ability to bring it due to 2/3rds of the the camp being under 21. I know this was not your decision, and while I do feel excluding the 18-21 crowd is too exclusionary for the spirit of a burn, nothing would make me happier than to bring Camp PGP to Transformus 2009.

Now, to the off topic topic.

Me and my girlfriend are (for now) getting in to Reno on the 23rd and leaving on the 3rd. I am hoping that we can get on to the Playa early to help set up Entheon, the more I talk to people the less likely it seems. Changing our ticket is almost as expensive as just getting new tickets, and money is at a premium right now (you know, due to the whole Burning Man thing). We really (really, REALLY) want to avoid renting a car, we were planning on taking the biobus on the 25th, but we will still be stuck in Reno for at least a day and a half with no way of getting around, and no where to sleep, both before and after BM. Can anyone recommend a dive hotel? How about a burner who wants to learn to spin poi? Or hoop? Or who wants to discuss the philosophical implications of R.A. Wilsons ramblings? I'm really entertaining, and will spin for couch. I know we can't post personal email addresses here, but if you were to look for me (Mitchell the Fire Shaman) I bet your favorite search engine can find me! Thanks!!

Also, if anyone else is getting in early/staying late and wants to split rides/hotels/all night blackjack just let me know and we'll see what we can do!

Mitchell 'the ever spinny' Fire Shaman

Elders Camp--Narnia
Native American and other spiritual cultures value the wisdom gained through years of experiencing life. They honor the role that "Elders" play in their society...keepers of the history, the memories, and the mythology of their forefathers. Elder's Camp will be for those who have been walking their paths a bit longer than most Mysterians... those "39 year and some-odd monthers" who desire to flock with "birds of a feather!" We will envoke the spirits of "all our relations" into Elder's camp and create sacred space. This TRIBAL COUNCIL will ritualize a Native American practice where the youth and young adults can come and ask ANYTHING of their elders and get a thoughtful answer...free of any parental judgment or guilt. An inner circle of elders--warriors, healers, leaders, crones and sages-- will face outward to a circle of maidens, braves, and children, in short, the future of Transformus. Questions may be asked, answers will be given; insights and lessons, shared and learned. Remember, the only stupid question is the one not asked! We welcome dialogue, debate, and discussion and look forward to sharing and learning from one another!!

Germania--Narnia
Achtung Mysterians! Seeking a quiet refuge before the next pillage? Then join Germania for some fellowship with the Ancient Ones

human habi-trail—Paradise Plateau
The human habi-trail will be an inter-active art installation inflatable. There will be several room/theme experiences linked together by tunnels to create an other worldly experience.
Bacon Camp a Transformus theme camp

Bacon Camp

a Transformus theme camp

Bacon camp is a combined vision of Jenn and Bubba John to gift to Mysteria the delicious and glorious taste of all things pig.

Bubba John has personally grown these pigs organically on only the finest feed available. This results in a lean, tender, and juicy cut that just screams EAT ME!

Jenn is combining her hypnotic transsexual mystique and bacon wizardry to bring you cooked pork with flavored hardwoods like hickory, applewood, and mesquite.

For the general event, we will cook pork Friday evening, Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast for a total of 5 meals in all.

For the volunteers, we will be one of the camps cooking in those non-event hours: Wednesday to Friday and Sunday night to Tuesday, as our gift to support you in your volunteering efforts.

We will provide and cook hundreds of pounds of pork prepared in several ways like: smoked, grilled, and pan/griddle fried.

We are looking for campers to join our theme camp in our inaugural year.

Camp fee/commitment:

1) $10

2) 1 lb bacon

3) commitment to cook/help with two meals
